Chapter 4 – General Procedures

4.3 Function Procedures – pg.178

Functions return a value to their calling procedure – this is similar to a
miniature program. They can have input, they process, they have output.

A User Defined Function (UDF) have a single output of type string or number
(single, double, integer, etc)

You can pass variables to a function, the same way you can with a sub
procedure
